Problem with "User Name" in POP3 settings

Doug Segal

I run three accounts, Hotmail plus two POP3 accounts through Outlook 2003
SP2. Post the last security update (circa 15th June) I've had to migrate
servers and now my second account wont work - it's definitley not the server
end because I had to delete the accounts and then put them back on the old
server (too boring and irelevant why) and the problem first happened then and
I have completly different sign in details on the new server.

The issue is that regardless of what type into the User Name field Outlook
changes the user name to the contents of the Inccoming Mail Server (POP3)
field.

Worse still it does it in the background when you are in the "view/change
email accounts" screen so it is only visable when you come out and look at
the names of the accounts you have.

This means that it logs in and out of everything fine but cant find the
email account on the server (you can watch this happen when you test the
settings) and therefore can't send anything

It doesn't matter which POP3 accounts I set up and I have tried setting up
other and changing the order - only the first one works and then the problem
I decribed above kicks in - HELP!!!
