problem with vlookup

Problem with vlookup. Instead of returning the result of the vlooku
formula the original vlookup statement is shown in the cell. Fo
example if the formula is =vlookup(A2, B4:C200, 3, FALSE) then the cel
displays =vlookup(A2, B4:C200, 3, FALSE).

If you use the insert function button on toolbar and fill in th
function arguments the correct value is shown in the formula result bu
as soon as you hit enter the original formula appears in the cell

herbie,

I think if you go Tools | Options | View and deselect formulas (in Window
Options) you should be okay. I think your settings are to show formulas?

Kevin

Hi

Or even simpler - the cell(s) with formula(s) are formatted as text.

Guys, Sorry but still having problem... checkign and unchecking afor

issue!... have you heard of this problem before?? I work in technica
support area and it's not the first time this problem has arisen.
We've tried in Excel 97 and Excel XP
