Problem with Word 2002 and caption reference

Problem in WORD 2002
In my document I have a picture (jpg) with a caption.
In another place in the same document, let us call this place “statement1â€
, I make a reference to that picture by:

insert
reference
cross_reference
caption
and I chose the appropriate caption.

I can see the reference grayed, like a field – when I click on it.
All acts well.

The problem:
When I make a “print preview “ or print the document, WORD inserts, after
the “statement1†a lots of “enters†(end of paragraph signs), as many
“enters†as the size of the referenced picture, and all the document gets out
of page ordered.

How can I avoid this?

OS : win 2000
WORD 2002 SP2
PRINTER : hp LASER PRINTER hp4500

Thanks

Sounds like your picture has gotten sucked into the bookmark placed around
your caption by the cross-reference.

One way to try is to select the caption only (or the portion you're trying
to cross-reference). Go to Insert | Bookmark and check the box for "Hidden
bookmarks." Select the radio button for "Location." The bookmark that is
then highlighted in the list will be the one for the caption you have
selected. Click Add, and the bookmark will be reapplied to the selected
text. Then go back to the cross-reference and update it (F9). If that
doesn't help, delete the cross-reference and insert a new one.

Tnx Suzanne:)
While "fiddleing" with it i realized that if i bookmark the pic
and add hyperlink to that “statement1†...the bug does not happen.
After the weekend will check ur advise - tnx anyway:)

The problem arises when you press Enter at the beginning of a caption (or
other bookmarked text); anything you type or paste gets inserted into the
bookmark. If you are careful always to press Enter at the end of the
previous paragraph before inserting a picture or whatever, the problem will
not arise.
