Problem with Word 2007 SP1

Derek Overton

I frequently save web pages as text and use Word to tidy up the text.
Where the text from the web page saves as a block or paragraphs without a
line between, it was easy to use a replace command (Ctrl H) such as replace
all .^p with .^p^p to put an extra line between paragraphs.

This has worked for 10 years at least but now hangs in Word 2007 SP1. It
was fine before the SP1!

All of these commands still work in a Word document or if I paste text into
a blabj Word document. It is only the File, Save As, Text from the Internat
which now produces text documents which Word cannot run formatting commands
through the find and replace menu.

I can work around with Notepad and cut and paste but what has happened to
change this and why. If it was an accident, can it be corrected?

Hi Derek,

Try doing a first run using
^&
in the replace with box (replace find with itself) then run your usual replace option. Does the replace now work?

I can confirm Derek's finding. This seems like a bug in SP1.

The replace with is irrelevant, just finding ".^p" hangs.

I will report this.
