Problem with Word attachment

I applied for a job and they sent me an e-mail with an attachment that
contained a Word doc (application) to fill out and return. When I open this
document the following happens:

A dialogue box opens with the following: "A table in this document has
become corrupted. To recover the contents of the table: select the table and
choose

Convert Table To Text from the table menu". I select O.K. But in just a
few seconds, before I have the chance to do anything I receive another
dialogue box

telling me that MS Word has encountered a problem and do I want to send an

error report to MS. Either one that I select closes Word!

More Info:

-I've tried the above many times.
-This file was sent from a large corp.
-I ran my virus software and (prior to that) reloaded Win xp (I was also
having a

mouse problem that seems to have been fixed).

Please advise.

This corporation could possibly be controlled by Satan so you may not want
to work there.

Alternatively, there may be a problem with the file that can be repaired.
Search for "Recover the text from a damaged document" and try that
suggestion.

There's apparently something else that might help in "Help" under ".Recover
a program that is not responding."

Thanks, but because the MS error report screen pops up so fast I can't do
anything.

I noticed there's a "detect and repair" option under "Help." You might try
that.
