Problem with word fonts

I recently installed some fonts into my G4 powerbook. When word 2000
started up the next time, it took an unusally long time to process the
font list. From this point forward, everytime I selected the font
dropdown menu in the formatting palette, all that I see is small black
lines or white space on all but a few fonts. When I type the full name
of a font into the dropdown menu, the font appears, but I really am
annoyed that I cannot see the fonts I have installed.

To try to fix this, I deleted the fonts from fontbook. I then
uninstalled office, then reinstalled office. The problem still
remains. I know it has to be some sort of corrupted config file, but I
have no idea where to look or what to delete in order to fix this.

Hi John,

You said Word 2000, so I'm not sure which version you're in; but try
trashing your Office Font Cache file. If you're in Word X or 2004, you'll
