Problem with word wrapping? Will not go to next line

Hi, I am not sure of the correct terminology for this problem, so will
try to describe the best I can. My son has a laptop for home school,
windows XP. When you are typing in Word and then hit Enter to Return,
instead of going to the next line, the cursor goes back and starts
typing the text at the beginning of the same line, not replacing the
existing text, but typing in front of it. It does not do it every time,
but seems to do it mostly when you hesitate a little. I've never
encountered this problem, and don't know how to fix it. Any help
greatly appreciated. Thanks, KOreena

This maybe not be the problem but I had a similar situation years ago, I
believe it was caused by an OpenGL driver that was incompatible with my
video card. If the file is saved, closed then reopen is the text still
overlapped?

Not sure, will have to check. Would this be a problem for computer
repair? Thanks, K

If the problem is only occuring in Word then it's probably something
else. When I had the problem it would also happen in Notepad or any
other text editor. Check to see If Notepad does it too. I couldn't
scroll through long documents or type anything without it overlapping.
I just had to reinstall my original video card driver software to fix
the problem. Divers are usually a free download from the manufaturers
websites. They are typically easy to install too.
