Hi, I am working on an iBook 800 and have a problem with the visibility
of the signs that show you there is a blank between the words. This
signs that show you a carriage return for example. I am talking about
that thing that looks like a mirrored p.
When you activate it, it shows you all the things that go together with
the text, not the content

You can do 2 or more things to toggle the "hidden characters" in and out of
a word doc. One is to go to the command bar at the very top of the word
window, click on "view", then click on "reveal formatting". Doing this
again will toggle the hidden characters away.

Or, you can go to "view", then hit "toolbars", then click on "formatting".
This will give you the formatting toolbar with the reverse P paragraph mark.
If this mark is not there, then click on the end of the bar on the arrow
that shows more buttons, and click "customize", then highlight the
"formatting" toolbar in the list and click "reset", which will make it
reappear [but will also lose any customization you might have built into
that one toolbar].

Cheers, Alan

First of all, thank you:
What I wanted to do, was: I want this characters to more dark, I can not
see them very good. I see (or at least - guess them) I want them to be
pitching dark . In WOrd for Windows they are seeable. In Word ver. X you
can only guess them. You see the paragraph sign and alle the other
characters youo dont see this little dots. They are to small. I want
them big and fat. I wouldnß care if they looked like enumerating
characters. Then I would at least see them.

Oh, I see. Other than settings for your display colors-which might change
the darkness of text a little (I don't know about that), I don't know
anything but to enlarge your text size and doc window, or change font, while
you work on a doc, or increase the magnification so at least the text is
bigger. Maybe a more knowledgeable person has another fix.

Cheers, alan

You can do 2 or more things to toggle the "hidden characters" in and out of

That doesn't do the same thing as the "¶" button. That enables a special
mode, so that when you click text, a pop-up shows up telling you all of the
formatting applied to the selection.
Or, you can go to "view", then hit "toolbars", then click on "formatting".
This will give you the formatting toolbar with the reverse P paragraph mark.

Another way is to activate the Formatting Palette (View -> Formatting
Palette), click the "Document" button, and press the "¶" button.

You can turn this on permanently by going to Word -> Preferences, opening
the "View" pane, and then under "Nonprinting characters", selecting "All"
and clicking OK.
