Problems after reinstalling Frontpage 2002

A

Ashley

I've been using FP2002 for a couple of years with absolutely no problems. I
maintain several websites and have been able to build them 'live' and update
and maintain them, right from within Frontpage on my computer. (so far, so
good).

Recently I had a major meltdown and lost my Harddrive. Fortunately I had
backed up most of my data to my wifes PC and was able to recover without too
much damage.

I did a clean reinstall of Windows XP and reloaded Frontpage 2002 (along
with my other applications) - and this is where the problem started: I'm now
unable to get into my websites and work on them using FP. When I try and open
them I get an error message which says "you do not have permission to make
changes to this document".

Please note - there's no window asking for my user name or password as there
used to be - it doesn't get that far. It just tells me I don't have
permission and refuses to let me in.

Interestingly, my wifes PC, which also has Frontpage loaded, can still
access the websites with no problems - so I take this to mean the problem is
with the new installation on my computer.

I hope I've explained this clearly. Can you help?"

Hi Ashlay,

It looks likes that frontpage is simply downloading you page from internet
and showing it in edit mode.
first you should check this
1) Open IE
2) Open file -> Open
3) check the box where it says "Open as webfolder"
4) type your website address including http://wesiteaddress.com
5) *it should ask you username and password for same website.

* Now here if you see your website files as files normally see in windows
explorer then you need to copy all files on one of the folder on computer.
then try to open same folder using forntpage( file-> open web/site ) as
website
and then try to publish website

lets see what you can do if you failed to open same folder as webfolder
1) try to check for any firewalls on your computer
2) if you have any antivirus installed on computer - please check for
firewalls in it.
3) still you failed to open same then try start -> run -> webfldrs.msi (I
assume that you are running on windows XP)
4) reinstall web folders and restart computer
5) try again to open website as webfolder using IE.

I am sure you will find solution for this issue.

Dave / Sarvesh,
Sarvesh Huddedar.
