I had installed Office X on my computer and tried to open a document
and it kept trying to open it in office 2004 test drive so I
uninstalled it and figured that it would just switch over to Office X
well now when i try to open the documents it says that there is an
error (error code- 10660) I was wondering how to fix it

Try this:
Select a Word doc in the finder.
hit cmd -I
change "open with" to be Word v.X
tell it that it should do the same for similar documents.

As a second line of attack:- Confirm that if you open the doc from
within Word v.X that it opens OK.

In addition to Elliott's suggestions, did you uninstall the Test Drive using
the Remove Office utility or did you just drag the folder to the Trash? If
the latter you may need to uninstall again according to instructions at the
bottom of this page:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/downl
oad/office2004/office2004.xml&secid=4&ssid=1&flgnosysreq=True

Also, don't forget about using Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions if you
haven't already done so.
