problems after Windows server 2003 upgrade

Hello...I'm hoping someone here can help me as the situation is urgent.
Today I upgraded the server hosting Project Server 2003 from Windows
Advanced Server 2000 to Windows Enterprise Server 2003. The upgrade went
smoothly, except now noone (including myself, the administrator) can access
Project Server. Whenever I attempt access I get error #5001 "Project was
unable to log you on at this time because the Project Server database cannot
be accessed. ". Looking at the event viewer on the server shows many error
messages along the lines of :
"Event Source: Microsoft Project Server Tracing Eventlog Provider
Event Category: None
Event ID: 2
Date: 10/28/2004
Time: 2:14:58 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: PUBLICSERVER2
Description:
File: C:\Office\dev\project\WebClient\source\utility\pjadorsutil2.cpp
Line: 1691
Error Number: 0x8007007f
Description:
Assert Detected. The error code was also
included.

___________________________________

Component: ADODB.Connection"

Needless to say, this error message (and the numerous other messages like
it) isn't too helpful pointing the the specific problem. Does any one have
any advice on what can be done to resolve this issue (short of reinstalling
Project Server).
Thank you!

Try running the EditSite utility and see if you can get a response from it
running the TEST feature.

EditSite reports "No errors encountered".
