Problems Closing Projects in Project Professional 2007

When I Close my project in Project Pro 2007 using the x Close Window option,
the project can be checked in properly. Meaning I receive the message box
asking if I want to save changes to the Project and asking if I want to
check in the project. The project is then checked in (causes no Cache
problems) or error messages if I try to open the project again later.

If I use the File Close option: I may receive the same message box or I may
not, then regardless if I select Save and Check in the project is not checked
in. I then receive the message: This project cannot be opened in read-write
mode becasue a previous checkin for this project is not complete. Do you want
to open this project read only?

I did discover though that if you wait a few minutes and reopen the project
then it opens fine.
Is anyone experiencing the same problem with Project Professional 2007?

Actually, closing via the red X in the upper right can cause lock-outs. This
is a known bug.
I haven't seen it happening with the file/close option, but would not be
surprised if it is related somehow.

Amwall,

There is a delay (caused by the queue) when you save and checkin a project.
We noticed the same issues when we first started using PS2007 and MSP2007. I
have trained all users to use the smaller, close window 'x' rather than the
larger, close program 'X'.

Jack:

This "bug" has been the case since Project Central. The best advice is to
train users not to close projects this way. Always use File > Close and
don't close the applcation until it says it's done with the save and the
publish if you do that as well.

I thought one of the Service packs fixed it once, but you are right, it has
been around a long time.
Patience when closing is good advice.

We are using the smaller x as well, and have instructed the users not to use
the Close application red X to close projects or they will not be closed
properly.
