Problems copying and pasting decimal fields

I have a problem copying or exporting from the adp to excel for any
field/attribute formatted as decimal. When I paste or export into
Excel, excel thinks that it is a text field, and I have to convert to
number every time. However, if I load the same query in SQL Query
Manager, and copy and paste from it, Excel recognizes it as a number.
I know that for Office XP there was a patch for a similar problem
(q328933), but I don't see a patch for this in Office 2003. Any
thoughts?

thanks,

Hmm. A convert(money) fixed the problem. However, it's weird because
I only have the problem when there was a case statement. Regular
select statements had no problem.
