Problems encountered in Word and Powerpoint 2000

I've come across some problems in Word and Powerpoint 2000.
Can anyone help me to solve the problems?

1. The problem in Word 2000
I have some Word documents which are embeded jpg image. When I read these
files, those images cannot be shown. However, when I print it out or double
click to enter the edit mode, those images can be shown without problems.

2. The problem in Powerpoint 2000
When I create some rectangular boxes filled with colour in the slice,
these boxes cannot show the filled color properly.
