Problems Importing Excel Data to Acess

Hi, Im trying to import an Excel Spreadsheet into Acess. When I try this I
just get an error message in a Dialogue box saying 'Error in loading DLL'
I have Windows XP, and Office Professional 07, but i have uninstalled the
business contact manager part.
There must be something wrong with Acess because it will not let me import
any data at all. I have tried linked tables, and also other formats like .txt
files but nothing is happening. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Acess.
Please can somebody help me - even if you have no solutions, i want to know
what the problem is.

Noticing that nobody answered, my one puny idea should hurt anything.

I own '07 but don't use it. I know up through 2003.

One thing to check is that when you installed Access that you installed it
100% Including all of the "filters" etc. that may not be in the default
install.
