I downloaded the test drive as instructed, but can't get any of the
applications to open. When I click on them, I get a box reiterating
that office needs to be installed on read/write volume and by an
administrator, and gives me the choices of buying now, learning more,
or being reminded later.; but it never opens. Any ideas about what
went wrong?

You probably have more than one version of Office (or the pref files from
more than one) on the system and your preferences are now munged.

You need to find and run the Office Remover tool at least twice, to get
everything out, then install again.

It may be that your system has had the test drive installed and started
before (new Macs are supplied with it on the hard disk). If that is the
case, the Test Drive has now expired, and it won't start.
