I am trying to install office 97 pro on a laptop running windows xp home.
installshield comes up, then an error that there is not enough memory or disk
space. Both should be good, 512 mb memory, 50g harddrive, no other programs
running. Any ideas?

Hello

Do you already have some remnants of any office 97 product already installed in your laptop?

Not that I know of, in fact hard drive died and was replaced not long ago,
reloaded all the oem software. The microsoft app's on the computer are msn
8, messenger, and media player, none of which are in office 97 that I am
aware of.

Check if temp files are the problem.
click on start > run>%temp%
Delete all the files that you see here. These are temp files which needs to
be deleted. Other suggestion would be to directly doubleclick on the MSI file
instead of setup.exe. Explore the CD and find the MSI file which is of a very
big size. Double click on it. if the install fails, go to start >run>%temp%
There will be a log for this setup. Paste the log file in here. if its very
big, copy the first page and the last 2 pages and paste it.

Good luck
