Brand new Mac mini (the 1.42Ghz mid-range model) with 512MB RAM, fresh
out of the box. English is the default language, Japanese IME's also
installed.
Insert Office:Mac 2004 Student Teacher Edition CD, start the installer
-- hardly anything installs! Just the Handheld Synch, Equation Editor
and some help files.
Ejected CD, restart, reinsert CD, now it won't mount!
Dug around in applications found an Uninstall Office button from a Free
Testride version that came with the Mini. Ran that. Restarted, CD
mounts. Reran installer, same deal! Office is not really installed.
Once again, CD won't mount. Now there is no installer. Dragged nearly
empty Office folder in Applications to trash, empty trash, reboot. No
love!
I am pretty comfy at the Unix command (though new to OSX). Any way to
get into the heart of things and yank out all vestiges of the abortive
install from the system so I can give it a fresh try?
