i'm very frustrated, i just bought this laptop with
windows xp and word 7.o installed, i'm trying to write a
book, but everytime i go on to a certain page i
get "error reporting" and when i either send or unsend it
errases my word document, or it disappears and reads
Works cannot open "c/document and settings/my
documents/bookidea.wps" the file maybe in use by another
applicaton(which one i try to find out.) the file format
may not support by any of the installed converters, or
the file may be corrupt.
Know i had to reinstall my harddrive, but if i'm writing
a novel i can't go on losing my work.. can anyone help me
or shall i sue Microsoft..?? HELP!!!

The .wps extension indicates that the file is a Works word processing file.
It's quite possible that it was created in a recent version of Works for
which Word 7.0 does not have a converter. If you want to buy Works, you can
get it very inexpensively. Better still, if you buy Works Suite 2004, you'll
get Word 2002 and five other MS products. The SRP is $99.99, but the Office
Depot catalog lists it for $50, and there's a $15 mail-in rebate currently
in effect.
