I have a problem with opening a file attachment sent to me in Outlook 2003
SP3: when I try to open (or save) an attachment named "CLASSRPT.HTM", I get
an error message stating "Can't create file: CLASSRPT.HTM. Right click the
folder you are trying to create the file in, and then click Properties on the
shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder."
I can forward the mail to another computer, and I can open the file. If the
file name is changed to something other than CLASSRPT.HTM (such as
CLASSRPT2.HTM), I can open the file. Previous e-mails that I used to open
this exact-named attachment in (I get my kid's grades e-mailed to me
periodically by our school system) can no onger be opened - I get this error.
My local IT group insists the attachment must be corrupted, but I disagree
with them.
We tryied running "detect and repair" on Outlook, and even upgrading from
IE6 to IE7, but the problem persists.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot? Something about an attachment named
CLASSRPT.HTM is causing problems with opening/saving the attachment in
Outlook.
My laptop runs WinXP Pro SP2.
