Problems opening newer Word documents

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel After installing the latest software update this morning, I'm unable to open newer versions of Word documents. When clicking it asks if I want to convert, after confirming, it keeps on giving error message 'There is not enough memory of disk space to convert this message'. I was able to open the same documents yesterday. (p.s. I have enough disk space left)

The first thing I would try is a power-off reboot.

That error indicates that one of the software modules has not dropped in to
place. Rebooting may fix it.

If not, we need a lot more detail, we're going to have to get deeply
involved to find this one.

Thanks for your message. I tried this (a few times already yesterday), but the problem is still here. Any other suggestions? I don't know if the software update had anything to do with us, but like I said, I never had this problem before the update.

Lisa

Before anything else confirm that your installation of Office is updated to
11.5.6 & that OS X has the 10.6.2 update applied. Once all updates are in
place run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions, then restart. This may
not correct the problem but at least it will level the playing field ‹ it's
pointless to chase symptoms otherwise.
