Problems opening sub-folders in dialogue boxes

Recentlyx - and inexplicably - when I try to save an attachment, I find my
Outlook blocks up when I try to open sub-folders in the "Save As" dialogue
box and I have to close and restart. The same happens in Microsoft Word.
Anyone else had this and have any suggestions? I use Office 2003.
