Problems opening Word 2000

I have been running Word 2000 for three years on a Dell
desktop. Although it worked fine earlier today, I now
receive an error message when trying to open the program.
I have tried this with no other applications open. I have
tried uninstalling and reinstalling Word and
unistalling/reinstalling Office.

Does anybody have any ideas? PC is virus-free and has 256M
RAM.

Thank you very much. the notes worked and I deleted
normal.dot to allow Word to open.
