Problems Restoring IMAP Settings

T

The Lazer

I recently had to remove my personal profile from my computer and start
afresh. When I came to restore my mail settings I imported the old Outlook
data file that I had backed up from.

C:\Documents and Settings\jennert\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

This restored the contacts and calendar items fine but I also have two IMAP
mail accounts that were not restored. When I imported the data files that
were associated with these in the same directories it appeared to import the
already downloaded messages but not the actual settings. After fiddling a
bit I eventually restored the IMAP mail accounts from scratch.

I guess what I'm asking is where are the settings for IMAP accounts stored
and how can I back them up so I can restore in a more efficient fashion
should I need to do this again?

Cheers

Tom

The settings for Outlook mail profiles are stored in the Windows registry. You can use the Save My Settings Wizard that comes with Office to back them up along with all your other Outlook settings.
