Problems running Office after apparently successful installation

I have puchased a copy of Office Enterprise 2007 and installed it on my
laptop. The installation was apparently fine and has been activated
(confirmed via diagnostocs). However I cannot run any of the Office
programmes. Whenever I start one setup starts again and tells me it is
gathering data. It then requires a re-boot. After a re-boot the process
repeats! If I cancel the setup process, the programme eventually starts but
has very limited functionality, I cannot create or change office documents.
I am running vista as an administrator. Can anyone help?
