Problems saving PPT file in MAC OS X, PPT 2004, with Norton AutoPr

Using PowerPoint in Office 2004 SP1 with OS 10.3.8.

When saving a PowerPoint file after I’ve created it, or when saving changes
in a previously saved document, I get the following error message:

<<There was an error accessing filename>>

If I click okay and try to save or save as again, I get another error message:

<<filename is read-only. Do you want to save changes under a different name?>>

I am then able to save the document with a new name.

Turning off Norton Autoprotect and restarting PowerPoint fixes the problem.
Only affects PowerPoint.

Is this a Norton problem or a PowerPoint problem?

If the headache stops when you cease whacking yourself on the head with a
hammer, is the hammer or your head to be blamed? ;-)

Norton's notorious for causing mischief with PPT. Check to see if there's an
Office or PowerPoint checking feature; if so, you can probably disable it and
turn Norton back on.
