Problems saving

E

Erithizon

I have encountered quite frequently an error message "Cannot save the
document. Cancel? Retry?" when saving my document. However, retry
doesn't help. This can sometimes be solved by pressing +P, and
then cancelling the print and then trying to save. Sometimes this
procedure helps, but not always.

Does someone know why does Excel do this? And even better if someone
knows how to get rid of this problem. Please tell me also. I'm quite
frustrated with this problem. If you have any ideas or suspicions how
to help me, don't hesitate to email me.

I have the same problem. It also surfaces when trying to open a previously
opened excel file in a certain directory. I can navigate to it in the finder or
using excel, and see it listed, but when I go to open it, it says, "not found..."

Hi Eric,

This sure sounds like a file permissions problem.

Have you run Disk Utility First Aid to repair permissions?

I have been having the same problem, but whenever I am prompted to
retry, the file saves no problem. I have repaired permissions (as I do
whenever a problem occurs with any application). I'm wondering if this
is a sign of an impending greater problem?

I have OS X 10.3.6, and I'm using MS Office v.X, with the 10.1.6 update
installed. This problem happens on both my B&W G4 tower, and my
PowerBook G4.

I found this article
(http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/excel/troubleshooting.html) very
helpful, but not enough to solve my problems...
