Problems Scanning Documents Into Word

I have an Epson CX6400 All in One Printer and I cannot scan
documents into Microsft Word using the following menu:

Insert-Picture-From Scanner or Camera.

However, I am successful in scanning in documents with
Powerpoint.

Whenever I attempt to scan into Word, a small window
appears that gives me two choices

"cancel" button or "acquire" button.

Neither button is active when I try to click on either.
Also, Microsoft Word freezes and I have to "force quit" to
get out of the program.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Gary,

I'm not familiar with your hardware device, and it's possible you want to
scan a graphic and paste it into a Word document. But if you want to scan a
printed document and put it into Word as if you had keyed it in, you will
need optical character recognition (OCR) software. I use OmniPage Pro X,
which is excellent.
