Problems seeing emails since last update

My MS Outlook 2003 updated last week via Windows Update in XP Home SP2. Ever
since then, certain emails in HTML format no longer display correctly, but
contain tons of hyper-links to graphics, etc. Two specific emails that come
to mind are my daily ABC News Nightline updates telling me what's coming on
the program tonight, and AARP. What settings could this last update have
changed to cause this? I'm using the Junk Email Filter and these senders are
in my Safe Senders list. I've always had it set to NOT automatically
download pictures and other content in HTML email, but I DO have the boxes
checked under that to permit such downloads from senders and recipients in
the Safe Senders and Safe Recipients lists used by the Junk Email filter.
These checks have not prevented me from receiving these emails correctly
before the last update.

Thanks.

Are the messages in the junk folder? Does the infobar say anything like

No, the messages are in my Indbox as these senders are listed in my Junk
Email Filter's "Safe Senders" and "Safe Recipients" lists. There are no
boxes in the email saying to click on them to see pictures. The only message
in the infobar are that extra line breaks in the message were removed.
Here's an example of the first portion of today's Nightline reminder. I did
follow their directions and put them in my Address Book:
