Problems sending e-mail notifcations

My Microsoft Project Server 2003 deployment does not send mail.

The SMTP server response next message:

SMTP server response: 451 See
http://pobox.com/~djb/docs/smtplf.html

Project Server ends each line with LF instead of CR LF.

How could someone help me to reslove this problem? How could I modify the
email notification?

Only relevant information I am aware of can be found at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d.../en-us/pdr/PDR_Project_Server_E-mail_3348.asp.
However, I have never seen this issue before. What service pack are
you running?

I have tested it with Project Server 2003 (SP2) & Windows Server 2003 EE
(SP1).
The SMTP server used is located in a unix machine: sendmail or qmail (not
sure yet)

I have tested following tracing with Ethereal:

1.- Testing with Windows SharePoint Services, the emailed notifications adds
CRLF as needed by the RFC 822bis.
2.- However, when Project Server 2003 send a mail seems to be not compliance
with this RFC. Therefore, the mail is rejected in the unix machine.

Any clue?

First priority: if you're using SP2, you should upgrade to SP2a.

As far as this issue goes, I'm not sure how to resolve this. From
reviewing the article on customizing notifications, it is indicated
that you need to use CRLF instead of LF... I can only assume the
developers of PS03 followed this correctly. However, this would
appeasr to not be the case.

To be honest, I would call MS Support. This appears to be a bug in the
system... if you can provide them with Ethereal logs, they should be
able to help you. The alternative is to set up your SMTP server to not
reject these emails (although it appears you are using qmail and I'm
not sure if qmail allows you to disable this checking or not)

Can you get your unix box to accept it? That's the only way I know to
overcome this issue.
