problems typing within a text box

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I am using an invoice template originally used for word2004 in '08. When I type within a table I can't type more than one line of text even though there is room for several. When the line is full the older text vanishes although it comes up when printing. Why can't I simply press return and start a new line of text?

Hello Marcus,

Sorry for the delay; I had to consult a colleague because I don't encounter
probs with tables and wasn't too sure.

He said that in table properties you have your row height set to "Specify
row height" so the row can't expand. De-select that setting and you'll be
OK.
