Problems uploading pages

Fred

I uploaded a few change pages just before the New Year and although the log
said they had been sent to the server the old page kept showing on the web
browser. I tried to upload some more yesterday but still couldn't get them to
update. In the end I published all pages again to overwrite the old ones and
cured the problem but why did this happen? I also noticed on checking my
visitor logs that some of the URL's had changed from http://www.mysite.com to
http://mysite.com so the SE spiders are treating these as new pages. Totally
confusing and not sure what's going on? Any ideas?-

Page URL change based on how site visitors access your web site with or without the www and google
see this as duplicate content, so I have heard.

Hi Thomas, Thats the problem. I'm worried about the duplicate pages in the
eyes of the search engines but it is the likes of Yahho that appear to change
the URL. When on run a check on page visitors you can see that the Yahoo
spider has been crawling and lets say he checked one /corfu.htm. If you click
on the visited page it shows up correct but the URL is missing the important
www.

The only way to correct that, that I am aware of, is to use server-side scripting to re-direct any
request without the www. to www.
