Problems using PDS

I have installed Project Server 2003 using the single computer installation
option. I am also able to access and login to the web access site, but only
from another computer. For some reason, the localhost site will not come up
from the server. Anyway, we are wanting to use the Project Data Service
component, and I am trying to use the PDSTest.net utility that comes with the
PDS Reference. Basically for this utility you furnish the server url, logon
and password and select a simple method, and it will display the XML result.
I have attempted to use the admin logon and password and have tried using
windows authenication, but I keep getting a logon exception. It displays the
following message: The underlying connection was closed. Unable to connect to
the remote server. Any suggestions? Does this test utility not work? Or
does the server require some setting to allow you to call the PDS through
SOAP?

When you try to log onto PWA from your server, what error are you receiving?
What are the IIS settings? The url defaults to
http://localhost/projectserver. This problem is likely causing the PDS app
to fail.

Also, did you install SP1?

From the server, I do not even get the logon screen for PWA. I simply get
the error message about the page cannot be displayed, cannot find server or
DNS Error
Internet Explorer.

I did not change any of my IIS settings nor configure them. The server is
currently running other web access sites for other applications, and I am
able to access the localhost from the server. I have also compared my IIS
settings for ProjectServer to the others we currently have running and do not
see any differences. Could you be more specific about which IIS settings you
are asking about? If you are referring to authenication methods, I have
basic athenication and windows integrated authenication checked. The default
doc is LGNINT.ASP.

Yes, I did try installing the SP1, but we apparently have system policies
forbidding me from just downloading and installing the SP1.

If this is a non-production server, the easiest way to fix bizarre problems
like this is to re-install Project Server.

If that is not an option...
When you try to access the URL from your server are you using
http://localhost or the actual name of the server? Could one of the other
apps on the server be causing the problem? You may also want to download
the installation guide and verify your setup.

I just reinstalled it today, and I have been using the installation guide all
along. I still get the same results as before.

Also from the server, I tried both the localhost url and the actual server
name url and got the same error for both.
