Problems using "save as" on attachments in Outlook emails

We are using Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 on our computers at work.
Lately, we have been having problems when we try to save attachments
rather than open them. If we open an attached file it works fine. If
we want to save it, however, without opening it first, it doesn't
work. When we click save, it brings up the dialog box to "save as" but
if we try to change the directory it is saving to to anything other
than My Documents, the program freezes. We don't know if this is a
problem with Outlook or a problem with our computer. Has anyone had
this problem or does anyone have a suggestion for what to try to
resolve this issue.
