Problems w normal.dot

Somehow my blank word document template has been replaced with a grid table.
I have reviewed and tried suggestions noted in the discussion groups and at
MVP.org(what if my blank document is not blank) to no avail. I have also
checked for add-ins that may have disrupted the template. It doesn't appear
that there are any. I've also scanned for virused and not found any. I
have tried renaming the incorrect normal.dot and deleting all normal.dot
templates. Each time I re-open MS Word (Word 2003) I get the same grid
table, even after re-booting the computer. Also all the word files that I
had saved now have a grid background to them. When I open MS word in safe
mode, I do get a blank document, but I can't save it. How can I fix this?

In Word, display the Drawing toolbar if it isn't already
displayed (View | Toolbars | Drawing). On the Drawing toolbar,
click on Draw | Grid | uncheck the "Display gridlines on screen"
box | OK.

Thank you so much. What a simple fix. Thankfully now aren't dozens of
business documents that have to be re-done. I appreciate your help.

Either you have not Activated Office or you have a trial version that has
now time expired.
