Problems when attaching Zip files

A

Andy Collins

Hi
I've got a user who has trouble attaching zip files to emails. She starts a
new email, clicks to attach a file, and browses to the location on our
network where the zip file is stored. When she browses the folder, she can
see all of the excel and word docs that are stored in this folder, but the
zip files are all hidden

Now, if she browses to the same folder using Windows Explorer, she can see
the zip files, and if she selects the Send to...Mail recepient option, it
will correctly attach the zip to a new email. Furthermore, if she then
browses to attach a second file to the email, she can now see and attach zip
files

Help!!

I see that problem too. While you can't choose the file itself using the
'file chooser' dialog, you can type the name of the zip file and it gets
attached fine. More of a workaround than a fix, but...

I'm using OL2007, but also saw this with OL2003 so it's been around for a
while.

Ronan.

From your description, I'd wager she has the built-in zip file handler in
Windows enabled. Have her try this:

Click Start>Run. In the Open field, enter:

regsvr32.exe /u zipfldr.dll

Click OK. This will make zip files appear as files and not folders so that
they show up in the browser box.. If she wants the behavior to return to
what it was, click Start>Run and enter

regsvr32.exe zipfldr.dll

in the Open field.
