Problems with Adobe Acrobat 6

Jan

This is a copy of my post in Windows Generel group. There
were no replies. Maybe I will have more luck here.

I have Office 2003 pro installed on a machine running W2K
pro. I have tried to install Adobe Acrobat 6.0 pro and the
install seems to finish ok. However, if I then open MS
Word, it comes with a message box saying "create Adobe PDF
monitor cannot be found. Please reinstall Create Adobe
PDF". Clicking OK makes the Word working OK. However, I
cannot convert documents into pdf.

I have uninstalled all older versions of Acrobat still
sitting on my computer and Acrobat 6 (a couple of times)
and reinstalled the Acrobat 6 using standard install.
Nothing has changed, i.e., install goes ok, and then the
same error message appears.

Does anybody know what is happening?

Hi Jan,

Check your Office\Startup folder for multiple PDFMaker.dot files.

If you have more than one then one of them could be looking for a file
that no longer exists. Move them one at a time out of the folder and
try starting Word in order to narrow down which add-in is causing the
error.

Thank you Beth, There were three files there: two Word
templates and a PP addin. Even moving them all to a temp
folder and restarting computer does not get rid of the
error message.
