Problems with automatic page breaks

Hi, I am having trouble with word inserting automatic page breaks at the
wrong place, ie: A heading on one page and the text it applies to on the
next. The document I am working on is a generic legal document template which
will be edited by others (to reflect the spesifics of each case) There are
many headings, sub headings and sub sub headings (ie: section 3.2.1.5) and I
would like to construct a format whereby these sections can all be edited and
new sections can be added if need be, without the document layout being
affected. I have all but achieved this by using the formatting to link the
headings together and it seems to be working very well but with one hitch....
word keeps inserting automatic page breaks in the middle of tables and right
after main headings. I have tried linking bits of text together in the
pagination settings and linking the formatting styles using the parent styles
but there seems to be some very illogical and erratic results. Please can
someone provide some guidance in this regard. I dont want to insert manual
page breaks as this will dretract from the flexabillity of the document and
the ease with which it is edited.

Thanks
Nevstar

Did you format the headings as "Keep with next" (in the Paragraph dialog
box)?

Also, note that if you are pressing Enter multiple times to add spacing
between paragraphs, you are in fact creating blank paragraphs. These
paragraphs are affected by "Keep with next," which probably isn't what you
intended.

Instead, either format multiple successive paragraphs as "Keep with next"
or, which is better, avoid blank paragraphs and use Spacing Before (and/or
Spacing After) to add spacing between text paragraphs.
