problems with backspacing in office

For some reason, when I highlight a group of words in any
office document and hit the backspace key it does not
delete. Also, if I highlight a group of words in any
office document and begin typing to type in that space,
it does not delete the highlight section it just types
before that section. Does anyone know how to fix this?

i would go to add/remove programs and hit change and
repair your installation.

Hi Dara,

What version of Word/Office are you using?

In Word in Tools=>Options=>Edit do you have
[x] Typing replaces selection turned on and
on the Word status bar is OVR (overtype) highlighted?

Thanks Bob - i had the same problem too and it fixed it for me

I was using Office 2003... never had this kind of problem before
