problems with beginner project 2002

Hello. I'm taking a Microsoft Project course at IUPUI.
After I use the loaded software, then turn the computer
off for the night, when I bring the pc up for the next
use, I get one error message after another. I can't get
past these error messages unless I uninstall the Project
software.
Someone told me I have a driver problem> I will say
that I have a non functioning driver and have had
problems with my pc turning off and reconnecting while I
play games. But I have been trying to find and install
the driver. It seems TridentMicrosystems has been gobbled
up by another Manufacturer...(VIA). Blah, blah.
This just goes on and on. I was just hoping there may
be another way to get around this until I can resolve the
driver issue so I can use this software for class.
I have a Compac Presario 7470.... (I have already tried
the Driver web site, and Compaq.).... 56K, with Windows
XP operating system. I have lots of space. If anyone can
give me a tip I would appreciate it.
Oh, the pc works beautifully except for the Driver thing.
Thanks, Mayjack

See embedded below. You're better off getting assistance from the
computer support folks at IUPUI (which I presume is available to you) or
via newgroups microsoft.public.windowsxp.* since this seems to be more
of an operating system and/or application install issue.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

What are the error messages?

Compaq are the experts on this machine. Suggest you use their drivers,
not rely on any other vendor even if it looks to be sourced by a
subcontractor, e.g. Triden and VIA. Compaq will often "tweak" these
vendor products, or buy non-standard (some say sub-standard) versions.

Make friends with Compaq support.

I tried the support people at IUPUI first, and they are
the ones that suggested I get a driver update from
Tridentmicrosystems. I seem to be in a loop here.
Thanks for your time. mayjack
