I have Office 2007 installed on a Vista machine. I am able to open the
program without any issues. However, every time I close it I get an error
message saying that Word has stopped working. It then begins to search for a
solution, but that doesn't help. Here is what I have done so far:
1) I ran the Office diagnostics. It found one problem, but was unable to
fix it.
2) I ran a repair install of Office. The first time it stopped with this
message:
MS Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working.
I ran it again and it completed. I then restarted and realized the problem
was still there.
3) I installed Windows updates, including SP1 for Office 2007. This did not
resolve the
problem.
The other issue I'm having is with .doc files created in Word 2003. They
open in Compatibility Mode which I understand. However, I cannot edit the
documents. I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on these
problems and provide possible solutions. Thank you.
