I've searched the contents of the Word General Questions & Word Application
Errors threads & haven't seen my problem mentioned, so here it is.
Using Word 2007, a colleague & I have both experienced the sample problem
with Comments in a training/template document were developing. While
adding/editing text in a Comment box the cursor would suddenly jump to the
next Comment box & continue adding the text to the beginning of the comment
text in the next box (overflowed into the next box). The amount of text in
the first Comment box was relatively little. When we attempted to delete the
'overflowed text' that was not possible, as if the text was mysteriously
locked. The only solution was to delete the Comment box & recreate it.
A second variation on this theme was the following: While editing/adding
text to a comment box all of a sudden the entire content of the comment box &
all subsequent boxes was changed to asterisks (*). This problem overflowed
onto the end of the document where several pages of lines of asterisks were
produced (almost like I'd fallen asleep on the * key ;-)). Then, at the end
of the multiple lines of asterisks the original comments from the comment
boxes were found.
I'm very keen to find out if this is user error or not (We're rel.
experienced users of Word '07) as this training document also comprises
aspects of a template for scientific reports for use by multiple users. We
don't want to put a damaged file out there which could sabotage our training
& report generation needs.
Thanks for pondering & for your suggestions.
