Hello,
in order to be able to open Office 2007 documents in Office 2003, I
installed the compatibility pack and its SP1 to severeal PCs running Windows
XP SP2 and Office 2003 Professional SP2 (german). The install performed
without errors.
Using the new file types in Word and Excel works fine. But in Powerpoint, on
all but one PC the new file types are missing in the File - Open - dialog as
well as in the File - Save As - Dialog. I tried to figure out, what makes the
difference between the one and all other PCs - went through the registry,
compared files, removed and reinstalled the compatibility pack, updated
Windows and Office to SP3 - but yet without success.
Moreover double clicking on a .pptx document (let's say "test.pptx")
launches Powerpoint and shows the contents of the file, but unfortunately the
file which is open in Powerpoint is neither "test.pptx" nor "test.ppt", but
e.g. "Ppt0000004.ppt" - located in the systems temp folder and write
protected.
Does anyone have a hint how to solve the problem?
Thanks in advance!
