Problems with date format when project is shared between US a

We have two teams working off of a MS Project 2003 server that is located in
Canada. One team is located in the UK and the other team is located in
Canada. Whenever the PM in the UK open’s the project file it rearranges the
dates and displays incorrect date information for tasks. The PM in the UK is
seeing different dates than the PM in Canada. To confirm this was a problem
with the US vs. UK date format I had the user in the UK change his Date/Time
format in the control panel from UK to US and the problem was fixed.
Unfortunately this is not an option or work around for the user. Is this a
know problem and is there a work around or fix for this issue.

Any direction or information would be greatly appreciated.
