Problems with Detect and repair on Outlook 2003 Help

I accidentally used MS Outlook help to "detect and repair" and I accidentally
checked both boxes to restore shortcuts and discard customized settings to
default settings. What are my options? I did not have restore set on my
computer since it has caused problems with some programs in the past. Are all
my past e-mails gone? If not, what can I do?

I'm desperate.

No. Settings and data are two different things. Repairing Office never
affects your data.

What data are you trying to restore? What happens when you start Outlook?

When I start outlook, the program asks me to set my name, e-mail address, etc
as if I'm setting it up for the first time. My inbox is empty as is my sent
box.

I would like to open Outlook as I left it prior to using Outlook help,
clicking detect and repair, and checking both boxes to restore shortcuts and
discard customized settings to the default settings. I apologize for not
specifying my problem earlier. I also apologize for my obvious cluelessness.

Hi - Did you resolve this issue? I just ran detect and repair yesterday, and
upon opening Outlook for the first time since then, I have run into this same
exact issue. I also feel desperate. I assumed I had some outlook personal
files somewhere on my PC and that I would be able to restore them, but I
cannot locate them. Please let me know if and how you were able to recover

Don't worry....all your e-mails are still there....my outlook is still down,
but I have imported my messages back from the old file. I'm not at home now,
but please respond and when I'm home, I'll show you how.

searching, I figured it out. All seems to be working fine now. I hope your

It is bad advice to recommend importing a PST. The best way is to use
File>Open>Outlook Data File to open the PST without importing.
