Problems with document window

Having problems with the display in Word X on a Power Mac G4 with
Panther OS, the ruler at the top on an open document will not stay
exposed you have to run the cursor over it and then it just blinks on
and off and also when I open a new documet the top opens up under the
top menu and I have to manually center it. I tried dumping the
preferences, at least I think I did maybe some clarification on that,
but there was no change. Please help, thank you.

Did you try selecting the Ruler item from the View menu?
and also when I open a new documet the top opens up under the
top menu and I have to manually center it. I tried dumping the

It's likely that your toolbar(s) have become undocked. Try moving them
slightly to dock them.
