Problems with evnvelopes and labels

J

JLH

Have a strange one. I have a user (with roaming profile) that gets junk when
she attempts to print envelopes using a Multipurpose Feeder on a Dell M5200n.
I have logged in as the local admin and it works just fine. The user can
repoint to Manual feed and it works.
What appears to be happening is that MS Word is sending improper commands to
the printer when logged in as this user. The printer has a display telling
which command language is being used and it will flash PS, PJL and PCL, so it
appears Word is sending junk. Now for the really strange parts:
1) It only does this on envelopes and when logged in as this user.
2) Everything prints with no problem, regardless of who is logged in.
3) It does this with other printers as well.

I am trying to find anything set in the user's registry keys, but no luck so
far.

Any suggestions?

TIA

Hi =?Utf-8?B?SkxI?=,

You might try asking this in the word.printingfonts newsgroup. There are a
couple of people with a lot of printing experience that just don't have the time
to muck through this "catch-all" group.

Fastest/easiest, however, might simply be to let the user create a new profile,
so that s/he can start again from scratch. Unless this is a really obvious
Registry entry, you might spend hours chasing it down, if you ever manage to
pinpoint it. There shouldn't be any problem migrating templates, etc.

Ah, but I do have a thought to try before you go that route: see if renaming the
user's Normal.dot template (so that Word generates a new, clean copy) has any
effect?
