problems with filtering locking program

All of a sudden today, excell started doing something
weird. When I try to do a filter (either simple or
advance/custom) I get a box that opens and says "fixed
objects will move". I can not close this box. Hitting
escape does not work. The only way to get out of the loop
is to go to task manager and close the program.

I have never seen this before and have been using excell
for many years. Currently using version Excell 2000

Doe anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it?

Hi,

Is this just with one file or with any?

If the former, I suspect there are objects on the sheet
you try to filter (might be a cell comment too). Try if
removing all objects and comments helps.
