Problems with footnotes (Word 97)

Hello,

please, can anyone tell me how to "push" a footnote down so as it stays at
the level of the lower margin?
I mean (forgive my English), sometimes it happens that I have a page with a
few line on the top and a short footnote but this one isn't at the bottom of
the page but more or less it stays in the middle, so there remains an empty
space between the upper text, the footnote and the lower margin (as the
lower margin were bigger, but it isn't set bigger!) and that's a pretty bad
make-up. I can't submit my academic work with this editing. What can I do to
move the footnote down?
Is it a problem of margin setting? Maybe is it because of the various
spacing I use in the body of the text?
Please help me! :)
(Hope you'll understand what I wrote :-D)
Thanks so much

Hi,

In the "Insert Footnote" dialog, you can choose the location/position
("bottom of page" or "below text").
In Word6 (and possibly Word97), the setting was hidden under "Options...".
