Problems with heading numbering

Vibeke

I have a document with 2 chapters. The two Heading 1 will not have numbering,
but all heading 2 will, i.e.:

Introduction (heading 1)
1.1 fdglk
1.2 dsfnfks
1.3 dskjf

Main Data (heading 1)
2.1 dfdf
2.2 dfhkf

In chapter 2, heading 2 continues with numbering from chapter 1; 1.4, 1.5 etc.

How can I change this to 2.1, 2.2, etc.?

Looks like you need to link heading 1 to level 1 in your outline/multilevel
list scheme but with the numbering font set to hidden and with the number
followed by nothing (so heading 1 will appear to be numberless and will be
flush with the margin or centered correctly, as appropriate). Level two can
then be set to restart after level 1 (heading 1).
